One of the important decisions every incoming college student has to make is whether they’re going to join a fraternity or a sorority.
Participation in Greek life reaps immediate benefits and some advantages that can last a lifetime. When you join a fraternity, the benefits are numerous and shouldn’t be ignored when considering rushing.
When joining a fraternity or sorority, expect certain responsibilities. Members are expected to take part in chapter activities, pay their dues and possibly maintain a high GPA. While these are added responsibilities, most find the rewards of joining a fraternity well worth it.

Academic excellence is a vital aspect of fraternity and sorority membership at Morehead State. Scholastic standards are important for each chapter and the community as a whole. Programming, incentives, recognition and ongoing support help fraternity and sorority members achieve academic success. Academic achievement is the reason students are at Morehead State fraternities and sororities are designed to help their members meet that goal.
Developing leaders today for life after college is an important part of Greek involvement. Fraternity and sorority members participate in a variety of programs that provide leadership development. There are many ways to be a leader in Morehead State's Greek community, including the chapter or council officer positions, national or regional leadership conferences, campus-based leadership opportunities and committee involvement.
SERVICE
LEADERSHIP
Service is a meaningful pillar of fraternity and sorority involvement at Morehead State. It is perhaps the most personally rewarding of the pillars, as members are provided with opportunities to participate in hands-on volunteer work and implement philanthropic events to raise money for charitable causes. The opportunities ensure that fraternity and sorority members will have an impact on their community and develop lifelong habits of giving back.
Joining a fraternity or sorority is about building lifelong relationships that extend beyond ordinary friendships. Bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood are formed within an organization and provide Morehead State Greeks with a home away from home, mentor-ship, career networking and a sense of community at a large university. Fraternity and sorority members enjoy lifelong connections that can provide support and celebration in life’s significant moments.

SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES
Sorority and fraternity members are expected to help plan and take part in different types of activities ranging from dances and parties to charitable events. Members can expect to have many opportunities to have fun, help fellow students and support their community. Members should never lack for something to do.
